Thank You to Migang Gumal Services for the Generous Pace Clock Donation

The Capalaba Piranhas Amateur Swimming Club would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Aaron Emery and Migang Gumal Services for their generous donation towards the purchase of a new Pace Clock for our club.

As any swimmer or coach will tell you, a pace clock is one of the most important pieces of equipment on pool deck. It helps swimmers monitor intervals, track improvements, develop race pacing skills and measure progress during training. Thanks to Aaron's generosity, our swimmers will soon have a brand-new pace clock hanging proudly in pride of place at the pool, helping them work towards their goals for years to come.

Supporting Local Sport and Local Communities

Aaron Emery is the founder of Migang Gumal Services, an Indigenous-owned Australian technology consultancy that has been operating since 2020. Having lived on Brisbane's east side and within the Bayside community for more than 30 years, Aaron understands the important role local sporting clubs play in developing young people and strengthening communities.

Drawing on more than 20 years of industry experience, Migang Gumal Services assists government agencies and businesses to improve how they work, make better use of technology and deliver better services. Their focus is firmly on building Australian capability, supporting Australian businesses, improving productivity and creating opportunities for Australians.

Aaron's commitment to community extends beyond the workplace.

As Aaron explains:

"Local clubs give young people opportunities to build skills, form friendships, stay active and develop confidence, helping our next generation grow into fit, healthy and capable Australians."

We couldn't agree more.

Community partnerships like this make a real difference, helping our club provide better opportunities and resources for our swimmers while continuing to grow and strengthen swimming within the Redlands and Bayside region.

The Meaning Behind Migang Gumal

The name "Migang Gumal" has a proud cultural story behind it.

It is derived from the Gathang language, once spoken across the Worimi and Birpai Nations. Through extensive research and revitalisation efforts, this language has resurfaced after significant loss during the Stolen Generations era.

  • Migang ("Mee-gung") means Eye

  • Gumal ("Goo-mul") means Eagle, specifically the Wedge-tailed Eagle

Together, the words translate to "Eagle Eye."

The Wedge-tailed Eagle carries significant cultural importance across many First Nations cultures, symbolising creation, nurturing and protection. These values resonate strongly with the vision of grassroots community organisations that seek to support and develop future generations.

Looking Ahead

We are excited to see the new custom-branded pace clock installed in the coming weeks and know it will quickly become an important part of training nights and race preparation for our swimmers.

On behalf of our swimmers, coaches, volunteers and families, thank you Aaron and Migang Gumal Services for your support of the Capalaba Piranhas. Your contribution will have a lasting impact on our club and on the young athletes who use it every week.

If you'd like to learn more about Migang Gumal Services, visit their website at www.miganggumal.com.au or find them through the Supply Nation supplier directory.

Thank you for helping our swimmers keep their eyes on their goals and their times on the clock.
